Questions You Might Have

What to Expect

What do you help with?

Anxiety and overthinking, stress and burnout, depression, boundaries and relationship challenges, nervous-system regulation, and life transitions.

Still wondering if I can help? Get in touch.

Do I need to be at a breaking point or have a diagnosis to get support?

No to both. You don't need a diagnosis or a breaking point to start counselling. Wanting things to feel different is reason enough.

Some of the most useful work happens when life looks fine from the outside but something feels off, stuck, or like you're on autopilot. Support isn't only for when things fall apart. It can help keep them from getting there.

What if I don't know what to say?

That's very common. We go at your pace, and I'll help guide the conversation. You don't need to prepare anything.

What happens when I book a discovery call?

Reaching out can feel vulnerable, so I've kept the first step simple.

  1. Book a free 15-20 minute discovery call. You'll get a confirmation email, then a video link shortly before the call.
  2. On the call, we talk about what brings you to counselling and whether I'm the right fit for you.
  3. If you'd like to continue, you can book your first session then, or take a few days to think it over. Finding the right fit matters for therapy to work.

There's no obligation to book anything beyond the call. If you'd rather start by email, you're welcome to contact me at hello@orissawellness.com.

What happens in the first session?

We get to know each other and talk about what brings you in and what you'd like to change. There's no wrong way to do it.

What does "trauma-informed" and "somatic" mean?

Trauma-informed means I go at a pace that feels safe and don't push you to share more than you want to. Somatic work uses the body, such as breath and grounding practices, alongside talking, to help calm stress.

Online counselling, Privacy and Safety

Do you offer online and in-person sessions?

Online sessions are available across Canada. A limited number of in-person sessions are available in Vernon, BC. Please get in touch if you want to work in person.

Is online counselling as effective as in-person?

For most people, yes. What matters most is the relationship and consistency, not the location. I trained online and have worked online as both a client and a counsellor, and I've found it very effective.

It isn't the right fit for everyone, so the free discovery call is a good way to see how it feels for you. Online sessions also mean I can support people across Canada.

Is online counselling private and secure?

Sessions take place on a private, encrypted video platform. What you share is confidential, with limited legal exceptions, such as a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, or a court order. I'll go over this with you before we begin.

For your own privacy, join from a quiet space where you won't be overheard. Headphones can help.

Counselling is not an emergency service. If you're in crisis, call or text 9-8-8 (Canada's Suicide Crisis Helpline) or call 911.
